Cherry on the Cake
8 1/2 minute animation using a mix of live background (1/8 scale set build) and computer drawn characters.
7/04/08 - work on animatic begins. Still JPEG sketches imported into FCP.
16/04/08 - animatic complete, exported to AE.
12/05/08-15/04/08 - first background shoot, 4 days.
16/05/08-18/05/08 - backgrounds from first shoot selected and placed in appropriate places according to animatic.
19/05/08 - work on animated elements begins.
10/06/08-11/06/08 - second background shoot, 2 days.
12/06/08 - backgrounds from second shoot selected and placed in appropriate places according to animatic. Some shots from first shoot replaced for lighting continuity. Handles added to the top and tail of each shot for grading.
16/06/08-17/06/08 - Backgrounds onlined and coloured in the school’s Nucoda suite by John Kelly. Full-res TARGA sequence (approx 22,000 1920×1080 images) exported, plus playout on HDCAM tape.
18/06/08 - Handles removed, TARGA sequence handed over to animator.
