About me

I first got into television whilst a student at Imperial College London, where the students’ union had a television station known as STOIC (Student Television of Imperial College). We mostly focussed on news and light ents, and broadcast a bit around college and online. During my first year I mostly did studio stuff - camera, floor managing, and occasionally sound mixing, but once second year rolled around I finally managed to sneak in on one of the PCs running a really old version of Adobe Premiere… and I never left.

The following years were spent doing part-time work at a variety of places where former STOIC members were working, before moving into freelance digitising once I graduated university. Whilst thinking about long-term career options I decided that I really wanted some formal editing tuition to give me the skills and confidence I needed to go out and get the jobs I really wanted, so I started on the Editing MA course at the National Film and Television School in January 2007. I’ll finish that at some point between December 2008 and February 2009, but in the meantime I’m continuing to do some freelance work and keeping my options open for other work.

You can see my main website at http://jaa-editing.com/ for further information on the types of project I’ve been involved with so far, in and out of the school.
