I'm not sure how the directing selection works, but I'd guess it would depend more on your proven ability and potential to get something out of the school than what other people have to say. I couldn't even say for sure at which stage of the application the reference checks come - they may only be made if you get through everything else so that the fewest people are inconvenient. I want so badly to get into directing there for the 2010 intake. I was wondering if you could let me know just how competetive it is, and do they really favour UK students? I am from Canada, and this is definetly a concern of mine. Also, if you happen to know if the referees (references) are important to one's application, and can help them in getting accepted. I ask this becuase I think at least one of mine is quite good., and I hope the NFTS places importance on them (or I may be out of line).
