Freelance, July 06 - present
Digitising on programmes including “The X-Factor” and “8 out of 10 Cats”, including multicamera footage (on Avid Film Composer in DVCAM, HDV, DigiBeta and others, utilising the Avid Unity system)

Offline ‘fine tuning’ of multiple shorts produced in the ‘from script to screen in eight weeks’ and ‘documentary filmmaking’ courses, including basic sound mixing (with Final Cut Pro)
Colouring of several short films (with Final Cut Pro)
Technical assistant duties:
Assisting with the activities of the single and three day courses run at Ealing Studios
Troubleshooting technical issues with cameras and microphones during filming, and ensuring adequate power supplies are available throughout the day
Collecting kit together at the end of the filming
Setting up the editing computers and digitising footage as it comes in
Helping the students to edit their scenes, providing technical and creative advice
Assembling the projects for screening at the end of the day
Collating all footage onto a single hard drive for later processing and DVD authoring, ensuring a logical system is in place for the person who’ll be working on it later

Interests:
I enjoy many forms of music, and played principal oboe for 4 years in the Trafford Youth Orchestra
Going to the cinema has always been a major hobby of mine, and I also like to watch television in the evenings - especially drama and documentary
I like to read a lot, particularly modern fiction and popular science books
